Maritimo 550
By Jon Meade
As you'd expect, Maritimo's fishing version comes with a cleaner cockpit than the cruising model, including hawse pipes for dock lines and under-gunwale cleats. And though the cockpit doesn't come with coaming pads as standard equipment, the rounded fiberglass felt perfectly comfortable to lean against while fighting a fish. You can also choose a livewell, in-deck fish boxes, a raw-water washdown and bait freezers, and a tackle station in the mezzanine. And speaking of the mezzanine, it offers seating for four under a substantial bridge overhang. I would, however, like to see dedicated storage space for gaffs and mops.
The slightly rounded transom backs down quickly and in total control while allowing precious little water into the cockpit. What water does sneak in disappears rapidly through the very effective scupper system.
You can rest assured that whether you're blasting out of Government Cut for the fishing grounds off Bimini or just taking a leisurely cruise down to the Keys, there's a Maritimo standing by to fulfill your dream.
